At ¡HOLA! Elementary, we believe that mathematics is more than numbers—it’s a way of thinking, reasoning, and problem-solving. Our program is rooted in the Florida B.E.S.T. Standards for Mathematics and guided by the BIG-M (B.E.S.T. Instructional Guides for Mathematics) framework to ensure every student develops both deep understanding and strong skills.

Core Instruction: Big Ideas Math

Big Ideas Math provides a coherent, standards-based pathway from Kindergarten through Grade 5. Lessons focus on building conceptual understanding before moving to fluency and application. Through clear instruction, problem-solving tasks, and practice opportunities, students learn to make sense of mathematics, not just memorize steps.

The Big Ideas in math are the essential concepts that build across grade levels—such as number sense, place value, operations, patterns, reasoning, and measurement. These ideas are not isolated skills but foundations that connect learning from one grade to the next. By centering instruction around Big Ideas, we help students see why math works, not just how to solve problems.

The program emphasizes:

Math Club with ACALETICS

Academics

At ¡HOLA! Elementary, our Math Club powered by ACALETICS® offers our students an extra boost beyond core math instruction. It’s designed so that every student can grow mathematically, no matter where they start. Math Club activities are differentiated: some students work on accelerating ahead, others on reinforcing or filling in gaps. Teachers pull small groups or offer targeted challenges so that each child gets exactly the support or stretch they need

Here’s how Math Club works at ¡HOLA!

In addition to regular math time, students participate in an extra 30-minute session daily. This time is dedicated to sharpening skills, reinforcing concepts, and filling in gaps.

In Math Club, we practice by the Power of YET. When students don’t get something right now, it’s not that they can’t, it’s that they can’t yet. With consistent effort, we believe every child can grow mathematically, build confidence, and stretch beyond what they once thought was possible.
